Standing Rock Native American Scenic Byway (35 miles)
The Standing Rock Native American Scenic Byway runs along the Missouri River and runs along the trails of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, along with Sakakawea, and we can't forget Sitting Bull.
Along the way you will be able to see and feel the history and culture of the Lakota/Dakota Indians. Outdoor recreation along the way is in abundance, Prairie Nights Casino and Resort , which offers great food and lodging. An abundance of natural history can be found along this trail, something for the whole family to see and relive, Legendary North Dakota.

Killdeer Mountain Four Bears Scenic Byway (64 miles)
From the Killdeer Mountains, to the Little Missouri River Breaks, and thru the rugged Badlands, here is some of the most beautiful, scenic landscape ,North Dakota has to offer. The Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara tribes has a remarkable history in this area. Just being here you can feel it in the air, the culture and history of these people.

James River Valley Scenic Byway (32 miles) The James River Valley being formed thousands of years ago by melting glacier water, is one of North Dakota's most beautiful areas. Recreation, hiking, hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling in the winter, is just some of the activities going on here. Something for everyone.

Rendezvous Region Backway (11.5 miles)
Rendezvous Region Backway is located in the northeast part of the state, in the Pembina River Gorge area. Here we have a wide view of the winding Pembina River with all the recreational possibilities, is hard to imagine a more beautiful place.

Sheyenne River Valley National Scenic Byway (63 miles)
This National Scenic Byway begins north of Valley City at the Baldhill Dam. Running south along the Sheyenne River Valley, this byway is the only National Scenic Byway in the state. Farms, ranches and homesteads are scattered throughout the entire route. This historic and culture rich area also has roots to archeology, where many fossils have been found over the years. Des Lacs National Wildlife Refuge Backway (19 miles)
Found in the northwest part of the state, Des Lacs National Wildlife Refuge Backway is beautiful in its own natural way. The wildlife viewing along this backway is just amazing, everywhere you look wildlife at it's finest. Many bird species, elk, deer, moose, and many others for viewers to enjoy. This is a great Sunday drive for the whole family. Who knows, you might even learn a little something about the past history of the great state of North Dakota.

Theodore Roosevelt National Park North Unit (13.7 miles)
Beginning 15 miles south of Watford City, this byway goes west and goes through the north unit of the park. The scenic beauty of the "Badlands" is breath taking. The colors blending together creating a robust assortment of beauty, is a gorgeous site. Fall is my favorite time of year to visit here. Wildlife viewing in the park is also some of the best in the entire state, with bison wandering around just like in the old days. With all it's beauty, the Little Missouri River and the history with-in, is well worth the visit. Top 5 Attractions

Turtle Mountain Byway (53 miles)
Starting at St. Johns an heading west, the Turtle Mountain Byway is 53 miles long. Winding thru beautiful farmland, pastureland, and recreational areas, this byway is very rich in history. My favorite time of year to visit here is in the fall when the foliage is changing colors, from brilliant greens to deep red's, golden yellows, its all here too see in the fall.

Sakakawea Scenic Byway (23 miles)
The historic byway overlooks the beautiful Missouri River. This scenic drive area offers some of the states best destinations for visitors wanting to learn more about the Lewis and Clark Journey.The rolling hills of the Knife and Missouri Rivers offer the history and culture of the people who lived here many moons ago.
