Bismarck, second largest and capitol city of North Dakota. Centrally located off I-94, in the center of the state. Bismarck is also the county seat for Burleigh, county.

Founded back in 1872, Bismarck was founded by a German chancellor. Bismarck sits on the east side of the Missouri River, while her sister city, Mandan sits on the west side. Come visit the adventurous past of North Dakota, at the Heritage Center, a look back into yester-year of North Dakota.

Bismarck Municipal Airport, is the main airport in the western section of the state. The airport is located in south Bismarck, not far from the National Weather Service. Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad serves the Bismarck - Mandan area.

As far as Park Systems go, Bismarck is rated right up there with the best. Spanning over 3 miles, along the Missouri River, Sertoma Park, also has over 4 miles of bike trails. Dakota Zoo and the Super Slide Amusement Park, call the park home.

Bismark has 5 beautiful golf courses, 4 of which are 18 hole courses. Apple Creek Country Club - Hawktree Golf Club - Pebble Creek Golf Course - Riverwood Golf Course - Tom O'Leary Golf Course.

Greater Education
The school system here in Bismarck consists of 15 elementary schools, three middle schools, two high schools, and an alternative high school. Three private schools finish up rounding out the school system here in Bismarck, they include, Shiloh Christian School, Dakota Adventist Academy, and St. Mary's Central High School.

Higher Ed -- The University of Mary calls Bismarck home, along with, Bismarck State College (member of the North Dakota University System) United Tribes Technical College and Aakers Business College (satellite campus).

Bismarck has two hospitals: Med Center One Health Systems and St. Alexius Medical Center. Bismarck also makes its home to Dakota Gasifacation Company. The North Dakota State Penitentiary.

The Kirkwood Mall is the cities largest mall. The other two malls are, Gateway Mall and the Northbrook Mall. Both in the northern part of town. Wal-mart operates two super-center stores her in Bismarck. Menard's also has a huge store in north part of town.

The climate here in Bismarck is pretty darn hard to beat. In the upper Mid-West like we are, are winters tend to be long and drawn out, sometimes ridiculously so. We have spells of week or two with below zero temps in the winter, but over all not bad. We do have warm-up spells thru-out the winter also. Something they call"The January Thaw".

Summers are very warm and sometimes down right hot. This year we have had many days in the 100's, with humidity out of control. Thunder-storms are prevalent through-out the spring and summer. But for the most part, Bismarck has a dry climate.

The warmest month of the year is July, temps averaging from 85 degrees (F) to average lows of 56 degrees (F). The coldest month is January. What a brutal month this can be, but on the average, high temp is 26 degrees (F) and the average low is -1 (F).The wettest month being June, averages 2.5 inches of precip. December is the driest month on record, averaging only a hair under 1/2 inch. Downtown Bismarck as a rule receives about 17 inches of rain a year and 41 inches of snow a season.
