Biodiesel
The Wave of the Future!

August 18, 2006, a ground breaking ceremony took place near Minot, North Dakota, for a new biodiesel plant. Attending the ceremonies were Senator Conrad, Ag Commissioner, Roger Johnson, and Gov. John Hoeven.

The 75 million dollar project is located southeast of Minot near the Minot Milling Company. Five buildings will be erected on this 110 acre plot. Included is rail equipment for moving materials and an operations center.

This plant will be using canola seed oil for the making of biodiesel. It is a very clean burning fuel produced from domestic renewables. Biodiesel is free of petroleum products and one the best features is that it can be used in exisisting engines will little or no impact.

Biodiesel is aromatic and sulfer free. Biodiesel is non-toxic and biodegradeable, which petroleum products are not.

This plant will be delivering the final product to customers in the summer of 2007. The plant will be producing approx. 30 million gals of biodiesel each year, which is about 80,000 gallons daily. With this biodiesel plant many new jobs will be created in the area, for farming and plant operations.

With syrocketing pertoleum products prices, biodiesel will take a strain off the dependency of foriegn oil, help heat homes, and also help clean the air we breath.

Usaully made from soy beans, biodiesel will be made from canola at this plant. Canola has a good advantage over soy bean oil when it comes to using it as a means of heating homes. It has a lower pour point. Biodiesel is being used more and more in the east being used in heating oil, # 2 diesel. 10, 15, even 20% blends are saving customers money on their fuel bills. In some cases, people are using 100% biodiesel to heat their homes.

In the long run this is going to help clean our air . Lots these older homes have furnaces that our outdated and need some repairs, when using # 2 diesel this is not burning right there fore creating a smog that is not good for us to breath.

The time has come for us all to lead the way and help reduce our dependency on foriegn oil. North Dakota has it all right here at our backdoor, renewable farm products that can pave the way into the Renewable and Alternative Fuel Revolution!
